Actor Riggan Thomson (Michael Keaton) was once famous as the superhero Birdman, but with the passing of the years his fame has faded into obscurity. As the film starts he attempts to make a comeback and recover his credibility as an artist. He tries to produce a new play with the last of his fortune. Thomson himself both directs and plays the main character. But before the opening of the play he has to deal with his rebellious daughter, an arrogant co-star, and especially his private demons. Birdman is a film about acting and the temporary nature of fame. The film comments sharply on contemporary society, where you need confirmation of your existence by being “liked” on Facebook or whether you are “trending” on Twitter. The unpredictable plot is full of fantasy and extremely funny, while scenes are linked sweepingly and unbroken. The original soundtrack from 4 times Grammy Award winner Antonio Sanchez completes the experience. Birdman has won a record number of awards (167), including 4 Oscars in 2015.
