Sepideh wants to be an astronaut. At night the young Iranian woman joins fellow fanatics in gazing at the stars. While staring up at the nightly universe she imagines herself in a different world. There she feels closest to her deceased father. Her greatest dream is to turn her current hobby into her future career. At home she watches with amazement recordings of the world’s first female astronaut Anousheh Ansari. Sepideh’s ambitions are, however, far removed from the opportunities for, and expectations of, a normal young Iranian woman. There is for example no money to send her to university. But she resolutely holds on to her dream. Will she be able to realise her goal against all odds? The light-hearted, understated tone of Berit Madsen’s film is accentuated by apt, restrained humour.
