‘A moving and wonderful film that captures the essence, depth and the poetry of Thich Nhat Hanh… a great work full of love.
A stunning cinematic journey through the world of mindfulness, with the world-famous Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh at its heart. As a spiritual leader, together with other Zen Buddhist monks, he has helped make mindfulness a worldwide phenomenon.
In 1982 Thich Nhat Hanh, (nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize), established the Buddhist community of Plum Village in the hilly countryside near Bordeaux. From there, he published his writings on applied Buddhism. In the film we are introduced to the monks and we observe their peaceful monastic life. We mingle with the lay people who come here for retreats in the summer and experience a short Buddhist tour of the US. The wonderful images, the serene nature, the non-attachment to material things, the enthralling chanting and the way visitors are treated all help create a sense of the Buddhist state of mind: cheerful, tolerant, ego-less and loving. Walk with Me is a film that works like a purifying meditation…
