Woody (Bruce Dern) is a trusting old man who lives a quiet life with his wife, Kate. When he receives a letter telling him he has won a million dollars, he is overjoyed. He wants to go to Nebraska, 1200 km away, in person, to collect his money. Both is wife and his son David try to convince him it is a marketing ploy, but Woody won’t hear of it. He is so determined that he even plans to walk there. Instead, David offers to take him and together they embark on a journey in which David gets to know his father better and Woody regains an understanding of life.
With a strong sense of humour, Bruce Dern gives a masterly performance in the lead role that you won’t soon forget. ‘Nebraska’ scooped more awards than most other films in 2013, including two Golden Globes, Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival and the Audience Award at the Rotterdam Film Festival.
