Nothing is what it seems in O Apóstolo, Europe’s first stereoscopic stop-motion animation film. The atmosphere is enchanted and sinister, full of irony and black humour. The clay figures in this interpretation of a spine-chilling local legend are modelled on the appearance and expression of their voice actors, including the now deceased horror actor Paul Naschy. Director Fernando Cortizo spent no fewer than seven years directing this unique visual masterpiece. And not in vain: the film was a favourite at numerous festivals and picked up many prizes, including the audience award at the illustrious Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
