Ze dompelen zich onder in Amerikaanse televisie – van Vietnamverslaggeving en The Price is Right tot Nixon, Coca-Cola en The Waltons – zijn op zoek naar Ono’s verloren dochter Kyoko en maken in de VS een transformatie door. Een tv-item over de Willowbrook State School – voor kinderen met een verstandelijke beperking – leidt uiteindelijk tot het historische One to One benefietconcert in Madison Square Garden. John en Yoko treden daar samen op, waarbij ook Yoko Ono met Age 39 en het intense Don’t worry Kyoko ruimte krijgt voor haar eigen stem, als gelijke naast John Lennon. Voor Lennon was het zijn enige avondvullende show na zijn vertrek uit The Beatles.

One to One: John & Yoko bevat nooit eerder vertoond materiaal, waaronder home movies, veel muziek en talloze opnames van telefoongesprekken van John en Yoko. De film is deels opgenomen in een tot in detail nagebouwde replica van hun New Yorkse appartement. Eighteen decisive months in the lives of John Lennon and Yoko Ono in the early 1970s form the basis for this intimate portrait by Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald. A unique snapshot of a turbulent period during which one of the most iconic couples of the 20th century settled in a flat in Greenwich Village, New York. They immersed themselves in American television, from Vietnam coverage and ‘The Price is Right’ to Nixon, Coca-Cola and ‘The Waltons’; they searched for Ono’s lost daughter Kyoko and underwent a transformation in the US. A TV item about Willowbrook State School for children with intellectual disabilities ultimately led to the historic One to One benefit concert at Madison Square Garden. John and Yoko performed there together, and there was also room for Yoko Ono’s own voice, with ‘Age 39’ and the intense ‘Don’t worry Kyoko’, as John Lennon’s equal. It was Lennon’s only full-length show after leaving The Beatles.

One to One: John & Yoko contains never-before-seen material including home movies, plenty of music and countless recordings of John and Yoko’s telephone conversations.
